Mission Africa Safaris

4 Days Uganda Safari

Book this 4 days Uganda safari if you are visiting Uganda for the first time and have little time to spare for a longer tour. Uganda is a beautiful country with many interesting national parks. This package will offer you an opportunity to track mountain gorillas in the Bwindi Impenetrable national park and visit Queen Elizabeth National Park for an amazing game drive and a boat cruise at the Kazinga Channel. You will also go for chimpanzee tracking in Kalinzu forest. The safari starts and ends in Entebbe or Kampala. An arrangement can be made for it to start in Kigali Rwanda.

4 Days Uganda Wildlife SafariThe first stop is in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Bwindi is a UNESCO world heritage site because of it’s incredible biodiversity. It is not only home to mountain gorillas but also chimpanzees, smaller primates, forest antelopes, birds and other mammals. Bwindi was recently voted as one of the best destinations for birding in Africa. After tracking the gorillas in Bwindi, you will be transferred to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Queen Elizabeth is Uganda’s most visited national park. What really makes the park special is the scenery and landscape. Unlike the Masai Mara which can be terribly dry during certain months, Queen Elizabeth received good rains for most of the year. This implies that it is relatively green for much of the year. Volcanic eruptions and the formation of the East African Rift Valley created beautiful features in the park like crater lakes, salt lakes and gorges. The park is also home to the Maramagambo forest and the amazing Kyambura Gorge. Queen Elizabeth has the largest population of tree climbing lions in the world.  While in Queen Elizabeth National Park, you will go for a morning game and an afternoon boat cruise at the Kazinga Channel to see Africa’s famous creatures. The Kazinga Channel connects lake Edward to George. It has a large concentration of birds and is where most of the park animals gather to drink. After Queen Elizabeth National Park, you will then be taken for chimpanzee trekking in Kalinzu forest. Kalinzu forest is one of the best places for tracking chimpanzees in Uganda. Queen Elizabeth also has chimpanzees at the Kyambura Gorge but the chances of finding them and on time is higher in Kalinzu.

At the end of this Uganda safari, we expect clients to have a taste of What Uganda has to offer in terms of wildlife. If you are looking at more days in Uganda, you should check out the 5 days Uganda safari package or the  12 days best of Uganda safari package.

Chimpanze trekking in KalinzuChimps behave very differently from gorillas. Some say they are more intelligent but not as wise as gorillas because they are not organized. A dominant male chimpanzee has to work harder to maintain his hold on the group. Chimpanzee groups are also more dramatic and mobile than gorilla families. They tend to spend more time on top of trees. Expect to follow them at high speed even after locating them. It is only when they settle down that you can take all the photos and videos you want. Practical Guide

4 days Uganda wildlife tourFor the best gorilla trekking experience, travel with suitable hiking boots, thick cotton gloves, a thin raincoat, light snacks and drinking water. Try to hire a porter if you have extra luggage or equipment. Many of these porters were once poachers and by employing them, you make them see the value of protecting wildlife. Porters are very knowledgeable about the terrain and can lend a hand when you get too tired after trekking for a long time. It is also important to give tip to the guides and rangers if you can. They need encouragement as they do a lot and often with little remuneration. The recommended tip is $15 or an equivalent in the local currency.

Important Notes

  1. The tour plan does not include lodges and dinner the day before and after the trip (but can be arranged)
  2. You need to be 15 years and above to track mountain gorillas. The minimum age for chimpanzee tracking is 13 years.
  3. You are required to have a yellow fever immunization card to enter Uganda.
  4. Visas can be got online or at the airport at a cost of $50. If you plan to visit other East African countries, you should consider getting the East African Tourist Visa.
