5 Days Rwanda Safari – Primates and Other Wildlife Tour

5 Days Rwanda Safari will offer you an opportunity to take part in some of the top activities while on a safari in Rwanda. The highlight of the tour is gorilla trekking at the Volcanoes national park Rwanda. Apart from the gorillas, you will also go for chimpanzee trekking and a canopy walk in Nyungwe National Park. There is also golden monkey trekking, a cultural visit and a tour of the city of Kigali. Nyungwe, Akagera and the volcanoes national park are two of the top wildlife destinations in Rwanda.  This tour doesn’t include a visit to Akagera National Park but can be included for those who are interested in a longer safari and participating in a standard game drive.

5 Days Rwanda SafariLet’s discuss a little about Nyungwe and the Volcanoes National Park. Nyungwe National Park is often referred to as the primate’s capital of Rwanda. It has 13 primate species including golden monkeys, Angola Colobus, chimpanzees, black and white Colobus. The park hosts one of the largest and oldest afro-montane forests in the world. The key attractions in Nyungwe National Park are chimpanzee trekking, nature and a forest canopy walk. The Volcanoes National Park on the other hand is the most popular tourism spot in Rwanda. The park became known around the world when Dian Fossey established a gorilla research station there in the early 1960’s. She helped discover how to habituate mountain gorillas and was very instrumental in fighting poaching. Every year tens of thousands of people visit the park to spot the 350 mountain gorillas. Gorilla trekking is very popular but one can also choose to participate in golden monkey trekking, visiting the tomb of Dian Fossey, exploring the Musanze caves, hiking one of the Virunga Volcanoes and visiting nearby cultural Centre.

By the end of this 5 days Rwanda safari, travelers would have not only visited Rwanda’s top national parks but also toured the city of Kigali and the Iby’iwacu Cultural Centre. This tour starts and ends in Kigali Rwanda. For a longer tour, you can check out our 6 days Rwanda wildlife safari package. We also have the 7 days Rwanda tour package. Practical Guide

Gorilla trekking can be a very demanding activity. We recommend that you show up for the briefing with sturdy hiking boots, gators, hand gloves, a light raincoat, packed snack and drinking water. If you have a heavy bag or equipment like cameras, then you might need to hire porters. Porters can be hired for about 5 days Rwanda wildlife safari$15. It is also important to be in good physical shape and to be prepared mentally. After gorilla trekking, you might want to give tip to the Rangers, Guides and Hotel Staff. Tipping is a good gesture on your part and is one way of supporting people who may not be receiving good pay for doing excellent work.

The recommended age for gorilla trekking in 15 and above. To track chimps, you need to be 13 years or older.
