– Gorilla Trekking in Uganda
Day 1: Pick up from Kigali and transfer to Bwindi National park
Our guide will pick you up from your hotel or airport in Kigali and take you for a tour of Kigali and one of the genocide war memorial sites. You will then drive to Uganda passing through Rwanda’s amazing countryside. Watch out for the green rolling hills and plantations. You will then cross over to Uganda’s Bwindi impenetrable forest national park known for silverback gorilla safaris. Rest and prepare for gorilla tracking the following day. Dinner and overnight at Chameleon Hill Lodge (luxury), Bakiga Lodge (Midrange) and Tarvan Trekkers Bwindi (Budget).
Day 2: Mountain Gorilla trekking in Uganda – Visit the Batwa Pygmies
Wake up very early to take breakfast and head for briefing at the park offices. The briefing is conducted by the head guide at 7:00 am and is basically about how to conduct yourself around mountain gorillas and what to bring along during gorilla tracking. You will be assigned a gorilla group and given a chance to hire porters. Choose a gorilla group based on your general fitness. Some gorilla groups move deep into the forest and require more trekking hours and resulting challenges. You should now head to the forest to look for the gorilla family. Go with a good camera to take as many photos as you can of the gorilla family as well as other forest creatures, birds and primates. After the one hour with the mountain gorillas, you should head back to the starting point where you will meet our guide to head back to the lodge for lunch and rest.
In the late afternoon, you will be taken to visit the Batwa pygmy community. The Batwa are original inhabitants of the Bwindi impenetrable forest but have been relocated to creat room for gorilla conservation activities. Day 3: Transfer to Volcanoes national park in Rwanda
You should wake up and take breakfast late after yesterdays activity. Checkout and embark on the journey back to Rwanda and to the Volcanoes national park. Marvel at the beautiful landscape on both the Uganda and Rwanda side along the way. Lunch will be taken En-route. You can later take a walk around the lodge before going for an early rest in preparation for gorilla trekking the next day.

Day 4: Gorilla tracking in the volcanoes national park Rwanda – Departure
Wake up very early and head for the volcanoes national park for briefing on gorilla tracking at 7:00 am. Briefing is at the headquarters in Kinigi, Musanze. The experience of tracking mountain gorillas is always exciting. Expect to pass through thick bamboo forest, muddy and steep areas. After this you will be rewarded with a one hour opportunity to watch mountain gorillas. Follow instructions from your guide and remain calm even when the gorillas try to get close to you. After the one hour with the gorillas, head back to the starting point and have lunch. You will be dropped off at your hotel or airport in Kigali for departure.
