Gorilla Tracking Safaris

Tracking mountain gorillas is the ultimate wildlife experience! Whereas game drives are great, a safari in East Africa is incomplete without seeing the silverback gorillas of Uganda, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.   A gorilla safari adventure in Africa takes you hiking through dense rain forest to meet face to face with a family of habituated mountain gorillas. Gorilla watching is a special and once in a lifetime experience as you will be having a personal and close up encounter with creatures that look and behave like we humans. In the countries where mountain gorillas  are found, gorilla tourism is greater as most visitors come solely for gorilla tours. With just a limited number of Gorilla groups, only 8 visitors are allowed to track a single gorilla family in a day. Gorilla permits sell like hot cake and competition for the permits can be high – Gorilla Permits sold on first come first serve basis. A visitor must book early in order to secure their gorilla passes.

The choice of which gorilla family to track depends on your overall fitness and preference. Some gorilla groups live near the starting points while others go deeper in the forest.
