Gorilla Tracking Safaris and tours to Rwanda, Uganda and Congo

Tracking mountain gorillas is the ultimate wildlife experience! Whereas game drives are great, a safari to Africa is incomplete without going for a silverback gorilla tour to Uganda, Rwanda and Congo. A gorilla safari adventure  takes you hiking through dense rain forest to meet face to face with a family of habituated mountain gorillas. Gorilla watching is a special and once in a lifetime experience as you will be having a close encounter with creatures that look and behave like we humans. In countries where mountain gorillas  are found, gorilla tourism is more valuable – Most visitors come for gorilla tours alongside other activities like golden monkey trekking, wildlife safaris, mountain hiking or a hike to the Dian Fossey grave to meantion but a few. With a small number of Gorilla groups available for tracking, only 8 visitors are allowed to visit each gorilla family in a day. Gorilla permits sell like hot cake and competition for the available daily permits is high – Gorilla permits are sold on first come first serve basis. A visitor must book early in order to secure their gorilla passes/permits.

The choice of which gorilla family to track depends on your overall fitness and preference. Some gorilla groups live near the gorilla tracking starting points while others go deeper in the forest.
