The main stopping point on the way to the park is the Ziwa Rhino sanctuary. The sanctuary is home to Uganda’s last remaining white Rhino and it’s the only place where tourists can spot white Rhinos while 6 days Uganda wildlife tourin the country. Uganda once had both black and white rhinos roaming her national parks in the thousands. Unchecked poaching almost wiped them out. The government and wildlife conservation Agencies rescued the last of them and relocated them to this sanctuary. While at the sanctuary, a resident Guide/Ranger will take you to see the Rhinos and learn about the breeding program in place. There is hope that once their numbers increase enough, some will be reintroduced into the wild. Lunch will be at served at a restaurant in the sanctuary or in Masindi town. After lunch, the driver will continue to the park and take you directly to the top of the Murchison falls for beautiful views and photography.

6 days safari in UgandaWake up early and take breakfast as you wait for the company Guide to come and pick you. The game drive will be done very early in the morning in order to spot birds and early risers at the northern section of the park. The morning hours are excellent for game drives because the sun is not yet too hot and animals are usually more active around this time. This is also the time to spot predators going back into their dens. Expect to spot water bucks, giraffes, warthogs, leopards, lions, hyenas, hartebeests, elephants and buffaloes among others. You will then return to the lodge for lunch and rest as you wait for the afternoon boat cruise at the Nile.

The park Rangers will go through all the important topics relating to chimpanzee tracking in Kibale forest. You will learn about the forest, the creatures therein, chimpanzee communities in the park, what to expect and how to act around the primates. Once the briefing is complete, you will go into the forest to look for the chimps. Once you find them, watch as they play, groom each other, mate, swing on top of trees and make loud hoots. Chimpanzee trekking is different from gorilla trekking in many ways. It is more demanding because chimps do not stay for long in one place. Chimps love spending more time on top of trees and are therefore more difficult to photograph than mountain gorillas. Chimpanzee groups are also more dynamic and full of drama.

6 day Uganda wildlife safariThe beauty about chimpanzee tracking in Kibale is the opportunity to see over 12 other primates. Expect to spot red-tailed monkeys, L’Hoest’s monkeys, Colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, vervet monkeys, pottos, bush babies, baboons and grey-cheeked Mangabey among others. After tracking the chimps, you will return to the park offices and find the driver who will take you back to the lodge for lunch. You will be looking out for lions, hyenas, elephants, warthogs, buffaloes and various kinds of antelopes. After the 6 day Uganda safarigame drive, you will go back to the lodge for lunch and refreshment.

The driver will take you for the afternoon launch cruise at the Kazinga channel after lunch. The Kazinga channel separates lake George from Lake Edward but is also one of the best places to spot wildlife in Africa. Many of the park animals congregate to drink and bath at the channel. Birders will be impressed with the different species at the site including pelicans, kingfishers and saddle billed storks. The mammals to look out for are hippos, elephants, buffaloes, crocodiles and predators like hyenas.

Dinner and Overnight at Simba Safari Camp (Budget), Kyambura Game Lodge (Mid-range) and Mweya Safari Lodge (Luxury).

Day 6: Tree Climbing Lions of Ishasha – Transfer Back to Entebbe or Kampala

Wake up early and prepare to depart for Kampala. The driver will drive through the Ishasha sector of the park for a  chance to see the tree climbing lions of Uganda. Queen Elizabeth is arguably the best National 6 days tour in UgandaPark to see tree climbing lions. The Ishasha sector is less visited compared to Kasenyi and Mweya but the lions make it very attractive. On a typical afternoon, the lions can be seen resting on large fig and acacia trees as they wait for the next round of hunting. Researcher have failed to come up with a single reason as to why lions in Queen Elizabeth climb tries. One groups suggest that they do so to avoid biting insects on the ground but this is not a clear reason because it doesn’t explain why lions elsewhere remain on the ground despite having to deal with the same insects.
